05.14.2009

I learned an important lesson about food.
Which is: Do not eat 4 servings of Chinese takeout in 24 hours after eating healthily for 40+ days. Gurgle. Gurgle. Ick.

There are many exciting things on the horizon. Many possibilities.
A list:
-Possibly going back to school. CSU has a creative writing masters program that looks incredible...
-A maybe teaching job? Mmm?
-Maybe ITALY (!) in the fall...... woah.
-Going to look at houses on Saturday. To buy. A house. (!!!)

...and my dog is awesome. Still.

05.09.2009

Today was another great food day, thanks to the West Side Market.
Smoothie made of parsley, carrots, lime, celery...
Bear claw(!!!) and chinese cookie...
Gyro, eaten in the park across the street as people danced for a new Wayans brothers vehicle...
Dinner of Ohio City Pasta with red pepper cream sauce, asiago cheese bread with lemon herb butter...

Which reminds me.
I met my Wii fit goal. I'm down to 129 lbs.
Under 130 for the first time in months! Yes!

Now for desert...

05.06.2009

BFA week is almost over at CIA,
which makes me almost one year graduated.

I'd say life is pretty good, post-school.

How coincidental that I have my first "real job" interview tomorrow.
To teach. To teach kids. Or young adults.
I probably know how to do that.

I'm kind of all over the place today. I was feeling overwhelmed, probably on account of tomorrow's interview, so I took a quiet afternoon. Pretty sure that the reason I usually remain so calm is that I take alone time at the first sign of overwhelm. Jeff and Booneston time also counts as alone time, since, you know, co-mammals.

There's a bunch of stuff I need to do. Laundry. Scan & color. Attach Bedtime Booneston tags. Resurrect my Etsy shop... which involves taking and editing photos.

Hmm. The news just said moms get into the zoo for free on Sunday. I wonder if my dog-child counts...

I'm probably going to buy a movie tonight.

This one.

Also, maybe, this one.

That makes me happy.

05.05.2009

American Idol is really kind of watchable tonight. Hmm...

I made about 4 pounds of salsa today. Maybe more. I've been eating it by the bowlful.
Black beans, corn, tomato, cilantro, red onion, avocado, garlic, orange bell pepper, green onion, olive oil, salt, apple cider vinegar... !

Which reminds me. Running calorie counters say that I burn about 495 calories running 10 mph for 30 minutes. 829 if I do 50 minutes.

Today, I burned 652.... so.... I can eat a whooooole lot of extra salsa and margarita.
Yes, I don't exercise to lose weight, I exercise so that I can eat and eat and eat...

Two days until my big adult-job interview.
There are so many good things on the horizon.

05.04.2009

I love food. Love love love.
There are few things more exciting to me.
As I type, I am smearing cream cheese on jalepeno smokies...
Um. Portion control. It's all about portion control.

I just rode my bike to the West Side Market.
Here's what I got:
-4 bunches saffron pasta
-4 bunches lemon pepper pasta
-4 oz. basil pesto
-1 lb. jalepeno cheddar and cajun smokies
-4 of some strange and delicious asian sesame pastry
-1 oz. steak seasoning mix to be used with oil as a salad dressing
-red leaf lettuce
-3 avocados
-3 lemons
-2 limes
-1 bunch cilantro
-1/4 lb. Irish cheddar
1/2 lb. stuffed green olives

I probably would have kept going, but my backpack was stuffed.
I only spent $30!
All that amazing, fresh food for so cheap.
Hooray for Cleveland.

On a related note, the bike ride to University Circle went really well.
There's a bike lane along most of the new Euclid Corridor, and it's only about 16 miles round trip. Next Sunday's bike destination will be the zoo, the Sunday after that will be Lakeview Cemetery... there's so much to do!

I'm putting off running on the Wii. I've gotten up to 5.5 miles in 30 minutes in the free run, though, and lost about 5 pounds between April and May. I really should continue.
Especially because I'm going to have and Ohio City Pasta FEAST tonight.

Yeah!

05.03.2009

Sundays seem to be consistently good days.
This is probably because it's the only day of the week neither of us work.

Last week, it was 85 degrees.
We rode our bicycles from the Steel Pit to Edgewater with stops at Target, Johnny Mangos and Gypsy - a total of 22 miles.
I got my first sunburn of the season. Whoops.

Today's plan is more bike riding, with a food stop at the Tap House to eat something off this amazing brunch menu. Then ride Euclid toward University Circle.

I'm glad I don't feel too awful after my bottle of wine last night- 2 glasses at the Cedar Lee while watching Ghostbusters (!) and two more at Prosperity.

Oh, yeah, and free comic book day was a total success!

(Here's a picture of Jeff in Carol and Johns.)

Ok, I'm off to frolic.
